On Saturday morning, June 24, 2010, the Lord and I had a Bible study. It was soon after our daily prayer blanket time, and it was before I began painting with Tim on the cabin. I asked him, if he minded if I got some of this down, because, I don’t know about you, but I sometimes forget what the Lord is saying, unless I write it down. You see, He and I really do walk and talk together, not because I’m somebody special, for He’s no respecter of persons. It is because He is special, and He does what He says He will do, not sometimes, but every time.
I first heard the prayer of Faith will heal the sick. I knew that was in James, but as I began to turn to James, the Lord stopped me in the following order. He first reminded me of the scripture we pray daily on the wall, Psalm 103, and I turned to it and wrote in my journal: Don’t forget all my benefits! I forgive ALL your iniquities! I heal ALL your diseases! I redeem your life from destruction! I crown you with loving kindness and tender mercies! I satisfy your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
Then, I heard from Isaiah 53, another scripture we pray daily: I bore your griefs and carried your sorrows! I was wounded for your transgressions! I was bruised for your iniquities! The chastisement of your peace was upon Me! And by My stripes, You are healed! I then heard, For by grace, you are saved through Faith (Eph. 2:8)…and…Without Faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is (Hebrews 11:6).
My practice is to compare scripture with scripture –Word with Word. A younger me would have had to have my Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance and the King James version to study. I did not have enough Word in me to get it, when the Lord was speaking directly to me. Sometimes, I just referred to the amplified version because it does a very good job of the same as the KJV and the Strongs.
What I did on Saturday was to take the Word I received above, and, then, substituted God’s definition for the Word Faith and His conversation with Peter on the mount of transfiguration concerning who He IS! I’m getting so excited about sharing this with you!
For by Grace (unmerited, undeserved Favor) we are saved through Faith (the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen – Hebrews 11:1), not of works, lest any man should boast…and (Hebrews 11:6a) Without that Faith (the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen), it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe (have that Faith) that He is…
Standing on the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus asked Peter, Who do you say that I am? Paul said, You are the Christ! The Son of the living God! (Matt. 6:16) Hebrews 11:6b continues:…and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Now, with all this wonderful WORD deposited in us, we return to James 5: 15-20, concerning effectual prayer. I read from the amplified this time:
Is anyone among you sick? He should call in the church elders (the spiritual guides). And they should pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Lord’s name. And the prayer of Faith (Hebrews 11:1) will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray (also) for one another, that you may be healed and restored (to a spiritual tone of mind and heart). The earnest heartfelt, continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available (dynamic in its working).
Elijah was a human being with a nature such as we have (with feelings, affections, and a constitution like ours); and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain , and no rain fell on the earth for three years and 6 months; And (then) he prayed again and the heavens supplied rain and the land produced its crops (as usual).
My brethren, if anyone among you strays from the Truth and falls into error and another (person) brings him back (to God). Let the (latter) one be sure that whoever turns a sinner from his evil course will save (that one’s soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins (procure the pardon of the many sins committed by the confert).
Effectual prayer is prayer of Faith! We must pray according to God’s Word. We must not regard iniquity in our heart – that includes unforgiveness, pride, contention, etc. For if we do, He says He can’t hear us. If we pray according to His Word, He hears us. He says, He forgives us our trespasses, as we forgive others who trespass against us. Is being angry or disappointed or critical of our brother in Christ worth our God not hearing our prayer. I, for one decided, it is not worth it. God has forgiven me. He’s buried all my past under the sea not to look at again. When the devil brings it up, I lift up the Word – the blood of Jesus – my shield of Faith! The Lord has told me to forgive as I’ve been forgiven..to freely give what I’ve been freely given.
For years, when asked to pray for the sick, I had to get ready. I had to stop…fast…get in the Word…I had to prepare because I was not ready. It took awhile for me to get it. I’m not anointed – not my fleshly body. The Lord in me is the ANOINTED ONE! He is the Christ, the Son of the LIVING GOD! When the Bible says, He in me, the Hope of Glory – the Lord in me is the Hope of Glory – He is the Word in flesh! The Word in me is the Hope of Glory! The Word applied…Word In…Word Out! Glory to His Name!
Let’s all fix our minds on Christ! It is not about us! It’s about Him! I can’t be good enough to pray! The Word is Good! Jesus is the Word! The Way! The Life! Since I abide in Him, and He abides in me, I ask whatever I will, and it will be done for me. Not my will but His will! I align myself with Him! Your will God – come! You Kingdom Come! Here in earth…in me…in my tent…today and forever!
Amen and Amen!
