In my Bible Study last night, Beth Moore refers to us as God’s treasured possessions. She was talking about why the devil is so busy seducing us away from the LORD all the time. Beth quoted Zechariah 2:8, referring to us, “Whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye.”
In the last post I made on my face book wall, Womenwho Pray (no spaces bet. 1st 2 words), I had been talking about Israel as the apple of God’s eye. We claim every day that we are the children of Abraham in Jesus and the 100-fold blessing of all we sow in the Kingdom, so I believe I’m in Israel as the Church, but I wasn’t sure it exactly said that I’m the apple of His eye in so many words.
As a student of the Word, I had to look for it this morning. I couldn’t rest until I verified for myself. I pray that every time you read from me or your pastor, or anyone you read after, that you will compare it – analyze and interpret it by the Word.
I’m also one that uses my technology – computers, conference telephone lines, etc., every day. This is what I did.
I first went to Zechariah and I read verses 7 and 8:
“Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. For thus saith the LORD of hosts: After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you; for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.”
Now, my English teacher role came into place…my knowledge of pronouns…and that they substitute for previous nouns. Who is that you that is the apple of God’s eye in Zech. 2:8. Verse 7 gives us the answer: Zion. Very interesting I would say in my Sherlock Holmes role. LOL!
Now, I’m realizing that there is more information that I need to know. I go to Google! I type in relationship of Church to Zion. I have scroll down to find the following:

Daily as part of our Prayer Blanket, Women Who Pray declares Isaiah 62!
v-1 For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns… v-6-7 I have set watchmen on your walls O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”
Isaiah 52 we pray each day!
v-7-8 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Your watchmen shall lift up their voices, with their voices they shall sing together; for they shall see eye to eye when the LORD brings back Zion.
The great hymn, We’re Marching to Zion, is taken from Hebrews 12:22. In Hebrew the name for the Mountain of God is Zion; it is Sion in the Greek that the N.T. was originally written in. The preceding verses let us know what mountain we’ve not come to, and then begins:
v-22-24 But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which was written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
LORD God, we stand with You! We pray the peace of Israel…of Jerusalem…of Zion ..Shalom! Jehovah Shalom!! Jesus Christ!!
Come LORD Jesus! Bring to pass Your Kingdom and Your will!!
