Be Anxious for Nothing…Just How Do We Do That? December 17, 2012

I was challenged to memorize Philippians 4: 6, today, by the leader of our group that is reading through the Bible together on line.

We were told to memorize it. This is one of the many verses that I cling to often…it is very familiar to me…but it has been a challenge to live by it.

I wrote the following comment to her and the rest of the group this morning…knowing that whatever we are bearing fruit in…can be picked.

We can share what we are walking in…

Jill, for the verse to memorize. I’m thinking like Kelly said above…I know this verse…but…
so many times, we have read…even memorized the scripture…and still struggle to apply it.

I may only be speaking to me…but I’m turning 63 this week…and I’ve been hiding the Word in my heart since I was very young…GA’s…BTU…S.S…and as an adult now for many years I pray the Word daily…much Word…and, yet, without training my mind as Paul tells us in Philippians 4: 6-9…I can’t get it to work for me…I will still fret…

So, I’m sharing how I do it…

6 If I’m anxious for nothing, and if I… in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let my requests be made known to God; 7 then, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. (Notice, I’m changing the 2nd person pronoun to a 1st person pronoun…I changed you to me and my).

Then Paul gives us verse 8…showing us how to do this!!!

8 Finally, Teddi, whatever things are true according to the Word, whatever things are noble according to the Word, whatever things are just according to the Word, whatever things are pure according to the Word, whatever things are lovely according to the Word, whatever things are of good report according to the Word , if there is any virtue according to the Word, and if there is anything praiseworthy according to the Word— then, you, Teddi, meditate on ONLY these things.

Woo Hoo!!! I think only on what God says to think on…and don’t let my mind go to the other places.

(This takes practice…that ole’ mind…that self or flesh…will stray. Scary thoughts…or mean thoughts…or just lying thoughts will spring up…if I don’t practice staying my mind on God).

Now, this morning, verse 9 blessed my socks off!!

9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Paul left this verse for us because he practiced what he preached. We can’t see him except through the Word that he left for us. Jesus in Paul the Hope of Glory!

As, Bible prayer warrior and Bible teacher…loving the Word…abiding daily in the Word…the LORD said share this morning…so, here I am.

Most of you don’t see me…only a few of us have that opportunity…but as Jill’s new-found Aunt Teddi… know that verse 9 is coming through me as I receive it this morning…

What you hear from me this morning, do…and the peace of God will be with you.

I give you the peace that is in me…as I’m truly going through some trials and tribulations…but His Peace…does indeed surpass all understanding…as verse 7 says…and I walk in that peace…and that peace I give to you…

Love you Jill and all you shinegirls!

Merry Christmas from Aunt Teddi

Now, the LORD, speaks of planting seed…He speaks of watering and pruning…and He commands us to bear fruit…more fruit…and much fruit.

Jesus in my heart is the seed of LOVE…that bears all of the gifts of the Spirit…was just taught this the past few weeks in the class I am in on Wednesday nights.

If someone receives love from me…they have picked the fruit I’m bearing…

An amazing concept…huh?

I pray you all receive the peace that I have shared…pick that precious fruit of peace…and walk in it!

Until the next time….

Teddi
